Marin County, CA: Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash in Point Reyes Station
Marin County, California (March 16, 2018): A Marin County Sheriff’s Office deputy was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Point Reyes Station, CA, yesterday morning, Thursday, March 15, 2018. The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Ryan Zirkle of Petaluma, CA.
Zirkle was reportedly responding to an emergency call when he lost control of his vehicle, veered off the roadway and collided with a tree. Emergency response crews were swiftly dispatched to the accident location on Highway 1 near Cyprus Road. Zirkle had become trapped inside his vehicle and emergency responders spent more than half an hour to extricate him from the vehicle. Zirkle was flown to Petaluma Valley Hospital and was pronounced dead a short while thereafter. The accident remains under an active investigation by authorities and no additional details have been provided to the public at this time.
