Tractor-Trailer Accidents in Manteca
Supervisors and owners of 18-wheeled transportation companies have a thorough knowledge of the state and federal ordinances that oversee their business. When a driver or an entire company fails to adhere to the regulations set forth by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Act, they are behaving negligently. Consequently, they are leaving themselves vulnerable to being sued for the costs of hospital bills, burial expenses, lost wages, and other losses should they fail to heed these rules resulting in an injury or a fatal collision.
For instance, both the trucks and the trailers they pull are supposed to be inspected routinely. This includes testing the brakes, checking the fuel level, and assessing the tires. There is also a criterion that specifies how much weight these trucks are allowed to haul, as well as the maximum number of hours truckers are legally permitted to work each day.
