Los Angeles County, CA: Vehicle Fatally Crashes into Mobile Home in Gardena
Los Angeles County, California (March 6, 2018): One person was killed and at least three others were injured when a motor vehicle crashed into a mobile home in Gardena late Saturday night, March 3, 2018. Authorities are conducting an active investigation into this tragic incident and only limited information has been made available while the investigation remains open and ongoing.
Officials believe the collision happened just after 11:30 p.m. when a 2003 Volvo heading west on 135th street hit a curb, crashed into a wooden power pole, broke through a fence surrounding a trailer park, and ran into one of the mobile homes, causing both the home and the vehicle to catch fire. A neighbor helped evacuate the occupants of the mobile home and emergency crews were dispatched to the scene to extinguish the fire and assist the victims. The driver of the Volvo was pronounced dead at the scene. The neighbor suffered lacerations to his hands during the rescue and the occupants of the home, a mother and son, suffered undisclosed injuries. No further details have been provided.
