Los Angeles, CA – Woman, Two Children Injured After Fallen Tree Limb Hits Vehicle Near El Sereno Ave
Los Angeles, CA (August 5, 2023) – A woman and her two young children were in their car when a large limb broke from a tree and smashed all three vehicles in the El Sereno area.
It happened at a parking lot close to the intersection of North El Sereno Avenue and North Huntington Drive at around 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening, August 4.
Firefighters rushed to the scene and discovered that two children escaped the vehicle, one a teenager and the other a young toddler, upon their arrival. Their mother was still inside. According to LAFD Battalion Chief Daniel Curry, the tree fell on the car as the driver was reversing out of a parking spot.
The mother was freed after rescuers used a crane to remove the branch from the cars. She was given medical attention at the site before being sent to an area hospital, and the two children were also assessed for injuries at the scene.
The branch also hit two more unoccupied vehicles, though no other injuries were reported.
