Los Angeles, CA – Three Dead, Two Hurt in Uber Crash at Vermont & Century
Los Angeles, CA (August 26, 2023) – Three people were killed, and two others were seriously injured early Saturday morning when a speeding motorist collided with an Uber.
Early reports from the California Highway Patrol indicate that the multiple-vehicle crash occurred in the Westmont neighborhood of Los Angeles around 5:30 a.m. at the crossroads of Vermont Avenue and Century Boulevard.
A black Honda sedan driven by an Uber driver crashed head-on with a white Mercedes-Benz that was heading north on Vermont at excessive speed in an apparent attempt to beat a red light.
The force of the collision caused the Honda to veer off the road. At least one person, apparently thrown from a car, was found by responding police officers. Officials said that another victim required extrication from the wreckage of the car.
The three victims, all women, were passengers in the Uber but were not immediately identified. The driver and one passenger remain in serious condition at a local hospital.
An investigation remains ongoing.
Our deepest condolences go out to the families of the deceased victims. Our thoughts are with the injured victims in hopes of their full recovery.
