Los Angeles, CA: Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle in Boyle Heights
Los Angeles, California (February 22, 2018): A pedestrian has been hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle during a police chase in Boyle Heights early Tuesday evening, February 20, 2018. Neither the pedestrian nor the driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian has been identified.
Officers with the California Highway Patrol were searching for a gold Chevy Suburban that they had reason to believe had been involved in an armed robbery attempt in Temple City. The Patrol officers spotted the suspect vehicle and began their pursuit when, about one minute later, just after 5:00 p.m., the unidentified pedestrian was struck in the 3500 Block of East 3rd Place.
Emergency response crews transported the pedestrian to Ronal Reagan UCLA Medical Center to undergo treatment for what are described as “moderate” injuries. The driver of the Chevy Suburban avoided initial capture by officers but has subsequently turned himself into the police. An unidentified parked car was also hit by the Chevy Suburban during the chase, but no information on the amount of damage caused has been provided.
