Los Angeles, CA – Four Hurt in LAFD Crash on Van Nuys Blvd
Los Angeles, CA (September 9, 2023) – A pickup truck and a Los Angeles Fire Department ambulance collided at the junction of Van Nuys Boulevard and San Fernando Road while EMTs were responding to a separate medical emergency on Saturday.
At around 12:30 a.m., an accident happened that led to a chain reaction that severely wounded two victims.
Two adult male civilians were driving a pickup vehicle that broadsided an LAFD ambulance before careening into a nearby power pole. Both people inside the pickup truck were trapped because of the extensive damage it sustained.
Both victims were rescued from the wreckage and taken to a local hospital, where their conditions were described as “critical.”
Two LAFD paramedics on board were able to free themselves from the wreckage, and both were also taken to the hospital.
Another LAFD crew handled the first medical emergency call that prompted the second unit to respond.
Witnesses were asked to contact the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division if they had additional information.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims in hopes of their full recovery.
