Long Beach, CA: One Dead, Two Injured in Head-On Collision

Long Beach, California (February 21, 2018): One person was killed and two others were injured in a tragic head-on collision at Atlantic Place and Atlantic Avenue on Saturday, February 17, 2018. Authorities are conducting a full investigation into the crash and only limited details have been released publicly.

While no official determination of cause has been made, it is believed that the collision occurred when a southbound 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by 27-year-old Wilbur Loza, failed to navigate a turn at the end of Atlantic Place and crossed over the median, crashing into a northbound 2014 Toyota Corolla. Loza was pronounced dead at the scene.

The occupants of the Toyota, an unidentified 24-year-old man and 20-year-old woman,  were both taken to the hospital to receive treatment for injuries that are described as minor and nonlife-threatening. No updates have been provided and no further information is known at this time.
