Lompoc, CA – Head-on Collision Occurs on Highway 1
Lompoc, CA (September 18, 2018) – A Lompoc head-on collision took place on Highway 1 on Monday, September 17. As a result, one woman was pronounced deceased and another left in critical condition.
In Lompac, the fatal collision took place in the area of San Julian Ranch on Monday afternoon around 3:30 p.m., just south of Jalama Road. At the time, a Locksmith van was headed south on Highway 1 at the same time as a Toyota 4Runner. The woman driving the Toyota swerved into oncoming traffic and struck the van head-on.
Firefighters and paramedics responded to the accident scene and pronounced the female and her small dog dead at the scene.
The operator of the van was airlifted to the hospital, but his name and condition are not known at this time.
Highway 1 was forced to shut down for about three hours while police investigated the scene.
