Lakeland, CA – 1 Killed in Car Accident at Grand Avenue and Vail Street
Lakeland, CA (August 12, 2019) – One person was tragically killed in a DUI car accident on Sunday morning. The devastating car accident occurred at 2:30 a.m. August 11th, in the area of Grand Avenue and Vail Street.
Reports claim that Jose Luis Montejo, 22, was driving a Buick Rendezvous northbound when he collided head-on with a southbound Chevrolet Chevelle. The currently-unidentified driver of the Chevrolet Chevelle was killed on impact, while Montejo sustained moderate injuries in the aftermath of the accident. Montejo was transported to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar for treatment of his wounds.
Authorities would later arrest Montejo under the suspicion of DUI. Further details on what substance Montejo may have been under the influence of during the collision remains unknown. A full investigation into the accident is underway by officials.
