Lafayette, CA – Bicyclist Struck and Killed in 1800 Block of Reliez Valley Road
Lafayette, CA (August 3, 2018) – A bicyclist died following a collision with a big rig on Thursday in Lafayette. The crash took place in the 1800 block of Reliez Valley Road. Around 12:30 pm, local authorities responded to a report of the crash.
Upon arrival, they discovered a bicyclist lying in the road, suffering from critical injuries. An ambulance rushed the victim to John Miur Medical Center. Sadly, the bicyclist later died at the hospital.
The bicycle rider has not been identified as police are working to notify his next of kin. It is not clear at this time if the truck driver remained on scene to speak with police following the crash.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing. There is no word at this time on whether charges will be issued. Police have not identified the truck driver.
