Imperial County, CA: Fatal Helicopter Crash Kills 4 in El Centro
Imperial County, California (April 5, 2018): Officials have launched an active and ongoing investigation into a fatal helicopter crash just outside of El Centro, CA, on Tuesday afternoon, April 3, 2018. The collision resulted in the death of four United States Marines. The victims have not yet been identified and few details have been made publicly available while the investigation remains open.
The victims were reportedly engaged in a routine training mission aboard a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter when, shortly after 2:00 p.m., the helicopter crashed near the U.S.-Mexico border for unknown reasons. While emergency response crews were swiftly dispatched to the accident location, the four Marines were discovered dead at the scene. The victims are all believed to have died on impact.
