Hayward, CA – 3-yr old Victim Identified in Pedestrian Crash on Shepherd Avenue
Hayward, California (November 1, 2018) – Authorities have identified the 3-year-old girl who was suddenly struck by a vehicle Monday afternoon in Hayward. The Alameda County coroner’s bureau identified the victim as Sophia Alvarenga Pena, of Hayward.
Police and firefighters responded to reports of a pedestrian accident that occurred around 3:55 pm in the 400 blocks of Shepherd Avenue at Manon Avenue. Paramedics arrived on scene and came across 3-year-old Pena lying in the roadway. The girl was rushed to the hospital to treat major injuries she sustained upon impact of the crash. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Officials confirmed, the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene of the accident and cooperated with investigators. The cause of the fatal accident will be established when investigators conclude their investigation.
