Hit and Run in California
In California, as in most other states, it is legally required for you to stop after you have been involved in an accident even if it was not your fault. Not only do you need to assess any damages done to your vehicle but you are also obliged to trade your personal information with the other driver involved.
You also have a duty to make sure that the driver and passengers of the other vehicle are okay and not in dire need of any medical assistance. What you do not do is drive off and leave another person alone and injured on the side of the of the road. Not only is doing so morally reprehensible but now on top of everything else you will be facing criminal charges.
