Gaviota, CA – Two Individuals Killed in Fatal Accident on Highway 101
Gaviota, CA (February 1, 2019) – A 48-year-old woman and 75-year-old man were killed in a fatal accident that took place on Thursday afternoon on Highway 101, according to police.
The accident also led to critical injuries in a 65-year-old woman from Buellton. Police responded to the accident initially around 12:20 p.m. The woman who lost her life was traveling southbound on the highway in her Honda Element when she suddenly hydroplaned after hitting water.
The vehicle was stuck by the woman who received injuries, who had been driving a Jeep Cherokee at the time. Upon impact, two parties lost their lives, who have not yet since been identified.
The woman who had been driving the Jeep was airlifted to the hospital. The crash is still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
