Gardena, CA – Pedestrian Hospitalized After Police Pursuit, Accident at Rosecrans & Budlong Aves
Gardena, CA (August 2, 2023) – Following a brief police pursuit, a driver in the greater Los Angeles region hit and seriously injured a pedestrian on Wednesday afternoon, August 2.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the pursuit began in South Los Angeles just before 3:45 p.m. Deputies were following the driver of a white four-door sedan they suspected to be stolen.
Shortly thereafter, the driver veered onto the sidewalk near the intersection of Rosecrans Avenue and Budlong Avenue, striking a person walking and causing a secondary pedestrian accident in the Gardena area.
The victim was taken to the hospital but is expected to recover.
Two suspects reportedly got out of the car after it crashed, and the driver turned himself in to authorities nearly immediately. A short time later, the passenger was located and arrested.
No other information has been provided in the interim, but the LAPD continues to investigate.
