Garden Grove, CA – 1 Killed, Irvine Man Arrested after Traffic Crash on 22 Freeway at Springdale Street
Garden Grove, CA (June 9, 2019)- A 26-year-old Irvine man was arrested after being involved in a crash that killed a truck driver early Sunday morning. The crash occurred before 4:00 a.m. on the westbound SR 22 at Springdale Street.
Reports claim that that the suspect was driving a passenger vehicle when he lost control of his car and swerved to the right, coming to a stop facing the wrong way. A tractor-trailer would then crash into the stopped passenger car. The impact caused the big rig to strike the center median, after which it overturned and ignited.
The driver of the big rig died on-site, and the Irvine man was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
An investigation is currently underway.
We send our condolences to the families of the victims.
