Firebaugh, CA – One Person Killed in Highway 33 Collision at W Shaw Avenue
Firebaugh, California (October 31, 2018) – One person was killed when two cotton modules crashed into one another on Wednesday morning on a highway in Firebaugh. The collision occurred at approximately 6:50 am on Highway 33, just west of Shaw Avenue, near Mendota. At this time, there are no details identifying the people involved in this collision.
According to officials, the two trucks were traveling on Highway 33 when one rear-ended the other. Reportedly, the truck that struck the other did not slow down and made full contact with the other vehicle. Sometime later, emergency crews arrived at the crash site and paramedics were able to treat the injured victims. Paramedics attempted to revive the driver of the truck that was rear-ended, but despite rescue efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities did not specify if the other driver involved sustained injury upon impact of the fatal collision. Investigators are still trying to determine the sequence of events leading up to the accident.
