El Rio, CA – Passenger Killed in DUI Car Accident at Highway 118
El Rio, CA (October 14, 2018) – On Wednesday, October 10 in Ventura County, a 42-year-old man was killed in a DUI car accident that took place at Highway 118 and Vineyard Avenue in El Rio. The accident took place around 1:30 p.m. that afternoon.
At the time, 28-year-old Castro Margarito was driving a green Altima westbound on the highway when it suddenly slammed into the rear of a truck turning into a concrete plant. The unidentified passenger in the Nissan died at the scene of the accident. He was only identified as a 42-year-old Santa Paula man.
Margarito was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries, which is where it was discovered that he had been driving under the influence at the time. He was immediately arrested.
Police continue to investigate at this time.
