Durham, CA – Two Children Hurt in Hit-and-Run Near Campbell Street
Durham, CA (August 2, 2018) -A Tuesday night hit-and-run in Durham left two children with injuries. Around 9:00 pm, police say that two children were walking along the roadside in Midway near Campbell Street. At that time, an SUV came along and struck the children, who are identified as an 11-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl.
Bystanders rushed to help the injured children, with police and paramedics arriving soon thereafter. The vehicle fled the scene shortly after the collision. According to California Highway Patrol, the girl suffered a broken leg while the boy suffered only minor injuries. Both children are in the hospital for additional treatment.
California Highway Patrol searched the area unsuccessfully in an effort to find the suspect. They describe the vehicle as a dark-colored SUV, possibly a Chevy Tahoe. The vehicle likely has front-end damage. This investigation remains ongoing.
