Dana Point, CA – Vito DiGiorgio Struck and Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Crash
Dana Point, CA (February 26, 2019) – 78-year-old Vito DiGiorgio was struck in a fatal pedestrian crash that took place on Saturday night while he tried to cross the street.
At the time, DiGiorgio was attempting to cross the street at the Pacific Coast Highway but was walking outside of a marked crosswalk. He was then struck by three vehicles around 6:11 p.m., who did not see him crossing.
DiGiorgio had been walking with his wife at the time. Police say that she made it safely across the street but he did not. A white Range Rover struck DiGiorgio, who was then thrown into another lane and struck again. Multiple witnesses were at a local bar and saw the accident when it occurred.
Paramedics pronounced DiGiorgio deceased at the scene. All motorists stayed at the scene to cooperate with police.
The investigation into the accident continues at this time.
