Contra Costa County, CA – Kenneth Sanabria Killed in Bicycle Accident on Railroad Avenue
Contra Costa County, California (October 30, 2018) – According to local officials, a bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle late Friday night in Pittsburg. The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Kenneth Sanabria, of Pittsburg. The collision transpired at approximately 11:26 pm on Friday, October 26th, at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Castlewood Drive.
Authorities have confirmed, a vehicle was heading northbound on Kirker Pass Road approaching a green light at the Castlewood intersection, at the same time, Sanabria was reportedly riding his bicycle into the crosswalk at Railroad Avenue. According to investigators, the driver attempted to swerve out of the path of the bicyclist, but the vehicle struck the bicycle at the intersection. According to first responders, Sanabria was lying on the railroad lanes suffering from head trauma. Paramedics rushed him to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, to treat his injuries. Unfortunately, he later succumbed to his injuries and passed away. The initial police report indicates, the driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene of the accident and complied with investigators. Police closed the road for investigators until 11:15 am Saturday. Investigators have confirmed, neither alcohol nor drugs were factors in the accident.
