Compton, CA – Two Dead, Firefighters Hurt in Collision on Avalon Blvd

Compton, CA (September 5, 2023) – A nighttime traffic accident claimed the lives of two people when a PT Cruiser collided with an LAFD fire engine on Tuesday.

At around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, the deadly car crash happened on Avalon Boulevard in West Compton.

As they were traveling along Avalon Boulevard to cross Compton Boulevard, the engine with firefighters inside was hit from behind by a civilian vehicle as they responded to a medical emergency.

Craig Little, a public information officer for the Los Angeles County Fire Department, told reporters that all four members of the LACoFD crew responding to that event were taken to a nearby hospital with non-critical injuries.

Two people inside the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers from the California Highway Patrol’s South Los Angeles office are continuing to investigate the crash at this time.
