Ceres, CA – Horse Rider Injured After Being Struck by Vehicle
Ceres, CA (August 24, 2018) – An accident left a horse rider injured in Ceres after a vehicle struck the horse and rider on Thursday evening. The incident happened on Carpenter Road around 6:20 p.m.
The vehicle suddenly came up on the horse and rider and struck them, which caused immediate injuries. The rider of the horse was taken to the hospital for treatment, but their condition is not known at this time. The condition of the horse has not been released.
We extend our condolences to the rider at this time.
As the horse rider had no protections on the roadway, we would consider this to be much like a pedestrian accident in this instance. The rider was obeying the rules of the road while a driver in a motor vehicle was not paying proper attention to the rider at this time. Too many accidents every year end in disaster when a driver is not paying close attention to others on the roadway.
Even when struck at slow speeds, somebody with few protections can be seriously injured or killed in an accident and wonder what options they have to bring a claim against a negligent party.
