Burbank, CA – Falling Palm Tree Causes Multi-Vehicle Collision with Injuries and Arrest in Burbank
Burbank, CA ( October 16, 2018) – Burbank Police are investigating a multi-vehicle collision that ended in injuries and an arrest just outside Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California. The collision took place on Friday night, at approximately 9:20 on October 12.
According to the initial reports, Burbank police and fire officials responded to the 4400 block of West Olive Avenue in the area of Lakeside Drive after receiving reports of a traffic accident involving a downed palm tree. When officers arrived at the scene, they came across a blue Chevrolet sedan and black Mercedes-Benz convertible with a large palm tree over the top of the vehicle. Burbank police officers arrested the driver of the Mercedes Benz on suspicion of possession of a handgun and narcotics. The driver has been identified as 29-year-old Jonathan Ortiz of North Hollywood. Ortiz, as well as the unidentified female passenger in a blue sedan, was injured at the time of impact. Sometime later, paramedics were dispatched to the crash site and transported the injured victims to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries. The injured woman, who has not been identified, remains in the hospital. Ortiz was arrested after being treated for his injuries. The current physical conditions of all people involved were not immediately disclosed.
