Bakersfield, CA: Vehicle Catches Fire After Fatal Crash on Highway 99
Bakersfield, California (February 20, 2018): One person has been reported dead following a horrific motor vehicle crash on Highway 99 in Bakersfield early Saturday morning, February 17, 2018. The victim has not yet been publicly identified and details about the incident remain limited.
The California Highway Patrol conducted a preliminary investigation and reports that an SUV was traveling the wrong way on Highway 99 just before 4:00 a.m. when it collided with a semi-truck near Airport Drive. The SUV caught fire as a result of the crash. Emergency response crews extricated the occupant of the vehicle and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a coroner. No other injuries have been reported in relation to this accident.
