Bakersfield, CA – Fatal Hit-&-Run on Highway 99
Bakersfield, CA (January 03, 2019) – Two people are dead following a hit-and-run accident along Highway 99 on Friday, January 3rd.
According to a local news source, the deadly collision happened at about 5:45 p.m. just south of the exit for Hosking Road.
Police reports indicate that a dark-colored Hyundai Elantra sedan ran into the back of a tractor-trailer that was traveling in the far right-hand lane. Subsequently, a second car ran into the Elantra, causing it to become wedged under the tractor-trailer.
Paramedics who were dispatched to the scene were able to confirm the deaths of two people involved.
A third person who was in the sedan was transported to a local hospital with undefined injuries.
The driver of the tractor-trailer initially fled the scene of the accident. He was allegedly spotted later, removing windshield remains from the back of his trailer along White Lane and was arrested for a felony hit-and-run.
