Bakersfield, CA – Driver Dies in Bus Collision at Mt Vernon Ave & Belle Terr
Bakersfield, CA (August 24, 2023) – A school bus and another car collided on Bakersfield’s southeast side on Thursday night, killing at least one person.
The incident occurred at the corner of South Mount Vernon Avenue and East Belle Terrace at about 6:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
All of the children and the driver on the school bus were injured to varying degrees; they were apparently en route to East High School for the Golden Valley High School varsity football game.
The second motorist was killed in the collision, per authorities. However, no official cause for the accident has been released, and police are continuing their investigation.
