Atwater, CA – One Person Killed and Others Injured in Head-on Collision
Atwater, CA (January 13, 2019) – Police say that one person lost their life and two others were injured in a tragic head-on collision that took place at an intersection on Thursday. Police responded to the area of Shaffer Road and Palm Avenue to find that two vehicles had collided, leading to the deadly accident.
An investigation into the incident found that 19-year-old Uziel Martinez had been driving a 2007 GMC Yukon headed north on Shaffer when he moved into the other lane to pass a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 43-year-old.
While Martinez was passing in the southbound lane, he collided head-on with a Toyota Camry. The driver of the Toyota died at the scene of the accident but his name has not yet been released.
The three occupants in Martinez’s vehicle were transported to the hospital for treatment of various injuries. At this time, no other names have been released.
Police continue their investigation into the incident.
